Several common high-power LED lens materials are: PC, PMMA, silica gel, glass, etc., as described below.
I. high-power LED lamp bead PC lens:
Optical Polycarbonate (PC) Polycarbonate. Plastic materials, with high production efficiency, through injection molding, extrusion finished production. The product has the advantages of light quality, anti-fall and low cost, and the light transmittance is slightly lower, about 89% when the thickness is 3mm. At the same time, the material product temperature tolerance is not too high, the temperature cannot exceed 110 °, thermal deformation temperature of 135 degrees. At present, this material is widely used in LED lenses with low light transmittance.
2. High-power LED lamp pearl silicone lens:
Silica gel (Silica
Silica: Silica gel is a highly active adsorption material, which is a amorphous material. Due to its high temperature resistance (it can also be refluxed), Silica gel is usually used to be directly encapsulated in LED chips. Generally, Silica gel lens is small in size with a diameter of 3-10mm. The larger the size of the product, the higher the production cost, in addition to the LED chip packaging, other applications are less.
Iii. High-power LED lamp bead glass lens:
The main advantages of optical glass materials are as high as 97% light transmittance and high temperature resistance. However, it also faces the factors of single shape, fragile, difficult to realize mass production, low production efficiency and high cost. Although few domestic manufacturers have started to develop glass molding technology, the use of mold casting glass lens production, can produce a variety of shapes, special surface of the lens. But such equipment is now so expensive that it is hard to spread in the short term. In addition, the weakness of brittle glass material needs to be solved. Due to the high transmittance and high cost of glass lens, it is commonly used in optical precision instruments.
Iv. High-power LED lamp bead PMMA lens:
PMMA acrylic from English (acrylic plastic), chemical name for poly (methyl methacrylate, commonly known as organic glass, Hong Kong and Taiwan habit called PMMA acrylic. This material is an important plasticity polymer material developed earlier, which has good transparency and chemical stability. Plastic materials have the same characteristics as PC materials, such as easy molding, high production efficiency, light quality and anti-fall. At the same time, the light transmittance is about 93% when the thickness is 3mm. Weakness is temperature cannot exceed 85 °, thermal deformation temperature of 92 degrees. Due to better light transmittance, high efficiency of mass production and low cost, this material is widely used in various optical lenses.
