Backlight Design Principles

DONGGUAN YISITEGUANGDIANKEJI CO., LTD specializes in the research, design, and production of LED lenses. Its main products include LED lenses, outdoor LED lenses, LED spotlight lenses, backlight lenses, optical lenses, waterproof lenses, high-power LED lenses, wall-washing lenses, LED streetlight lenses, light-box lenses, and optical lenses. The company operates an integrated LED lens manufacturing system that encompasses independent design, R&D, production, and molding, helping customers achieve maximum luminous efficiency and superior lighting performance across various LED lighting applications.

Backlight Design Principles:

(1) Consider customers’ requirements regarding the product’s basic structure and characteristics.
1. Basic product structure: This refers to the structural design of the exterior, which affects the assembly of the customer‑control module. Since the basic product structure is closely tied to the customer‑control module, it cannot be altered arbitrarily—unless the customer‑control module has not yet been finalized, in which case its design will proceed only after the backlight board has been approved.
2. The specifications include test criteria and optoelectronic requirements such as chromaticity, precision, storage temperature, operating temperature, and input current magnitude.
2.1 The input current magnitude is determined by the customer‑controlled module; therefore, during the design phase, it is essential to accurately specify the IF and Vf values to facilitate color‑balance optimization.
2.2 Chromaticity refers to the intensity of light in the luminous area of each enterprise.
2.3 At present, the achievable storage temperature range is −30°C to +80°C; the operating temperature range is −20°C to +70°C.
(II) Steel Structure Design
1. Overall Design: The geometric shape should be designed to facilitate molding and minimize tooling complexity.
1.1 For example, if the product can be designed to use an insert‑type runner, there is no need to design it with a guide‑rail slider. Moreover, products manufactured using a guide‑rail slider on the mold often exhibit weld marks, which detract from their aesthetic appeal; if… Backlight This will further compromise colorimetry.
2.2 The holes for the insert should generally be no less than 1.250 mm in diameter to prevent the insert from breaking during the drawing process.
3. Wall thickness
1) Thermosetting plastics.
Minimum wall thickness at the thinnest section: Tmin = 1.5–2 mm.
2) Thermosetting plastic raw materials: All the raw materials used for the backlight panel are of this type.
Minimum wall thickness at the thinnest point: Tmin = 0.25 mm; however, due to constraints imposed by the ejection‑molding process, based on a 1.1‑inch dimension, the part’s wall thickness must be at least 0.4 mm.
4. Reinforcing plates: To prevent deformation of the support structure and avoid compromising product assembly, reinforcing plates may be appropriately added.
5. Support Surface: To prevent damage caused by friction that may lead to surface pitting, avoid using full‑surface support whenever possible.
6. Fillets: Where they do not compromise assembly, fillets may be added as needed to facilitate demolding.
