LED lens It is an optical system closely associated with LEDs, capable of enhancing both light utilization efficiency and luminous efficacy. Depending on the desired effect, different lenses can be employed to modify the LED’s light distribution pattern. Other types of lenses, such as camera lenses or telescope lenses, fall outside the scope of this discussion. This paper focuses on auxiliary condenser lenses used in high-power LED applications. What are the specifications and classifications of LED lenses?

LED lens Direct-type (convex lens)
1 When LED light passes through the curved surface of a lens—such as a biconvex lens—the light is refracted and focused. Moreover, adjusting the distance between the lens and the LED causes the beam angle to change; the angle is inversely proportional to the distance. The optical design of the lens‑based light spot can achieve excellent uniformity; however, due to limitations in lens diameter and beam‑shaping characteristics, the LED’s light utilization rate remains low, and the edge of the light spot exhibits a fairly noticeable yellow halo.
2 Typically used in wide-angle spotlights (50° and above), such as desk lamps, strip lights, and other indoor lighting fixtures;
LED lens Catadioptric (conical or cup-shaped)
1. The lens design incorporates a penetrating spotlight at the front; its conical surface captures and reflects light from all sides, and the overlap of these two light paths—at identical angles—ensures optimal light efficiency and aesthetic appeal. Spot effect.
2. Additional modifications can be made to the surface of the conical lens, allowing it to be designed with a mirrored finish, frosted surface, bead‑finished surface, striped surface, threaded surface, convex surface, or concave surface, among others, to achieve different spot patterns and effects.
LED lens Camera module
1 It is manufactured by injection molding multiple individual lens elements to form a complete multi-lens assembly. Depending on the specific requirements, it can be configured as a three-in-one, five-in-one, or even a module comprising dozens of lenses. Alternatively, it can also be implemented using two separate lenses combined with a mounting bracket.
2 This design effectively reduces manufacturing costs, ensures consistent product quality, saves space within the lamp assembly, and facilitates the implementation of “high-power” functionality.
