Analysis of the Polishing Process for Optical Lenses

After fine grinding with a polishing slurry, optical lenses still retain a surface layer of cracks approximately 2–3 μm thick. The process used to remove this crack layer is called polishing. Polishing operates on the same principle as grinding; the difference lies in the materials of the polishing tools and the polishing slurry. Common polishing media include cloth, polyurethane pads, and pitch. For achieving highly precise polished surfaces, high‑grade polishing pitch is typically the material of choice. The motion mechanisms employed in both polishing and grinding are identical; the only distinctions are the polishing tools and the working fluids. Additionally, the environmental conditions required during polishing differ from those of grinding.

What are the common types of optical lenses?

There are many types of optical lenses. Below, Yisite Optoelectronics will introduce some classifications of optical glass. First, let’s understand what an optical lens is. An optical lens is a type of glass that can alter the direction of light propagation and is used to manufacture components such as lenses and mirrors in optical instruments. Optical glass is primarily made from high‑quality quartz sand; it is employed in devices like cameras and telescopes. 1. Colorless Optical Glass This type has specific requirements for its optical constants and is characterized by high transmittance in the visible spectrum and the absence of selective absorption or coloration. Based on its Abbe number, it is further divided into crown glass and flint glass.

Under what circumstances should you use a 1.5× erecting eyepiece and a 2/3× teleconverter?

Under what circumstances should you use a 1.5× erecting eyepiece and a 2/3× Barlow lens? The 1.5× erecting eyepiece magnifies the image by 1.5 times and corrects an inverted image to an upright one, making it suitable for close‑up observations—typically when observing terrestrial targets. It’s unnecessary for astronomical viewing. With a refracting telescope, the image appears left–right reversed but top–bottom correct; adding a 1.5× erecting eyepiece would invert the image vertically, rendering it essentially useless for refractors. However, on a reflecting telescope, a 1.5× erecting eyepiece can produce an upright image. The 2/3× Barlow lens provides approximately 2/3× magnification and is usually employed when the target has relatively low contrast…

What are the advantages of optical lenses?

What are the advantages of optical glass? Let’s find out together with Dongsheng Optoelectronics, a manufacturer of optical lenses. Optical glass can alter the direction of light propagation and modify the relative spectral distribution of ultraviolet, visible, or infrared light. At high refractive indices, optical glass exhibits a low dispersion coefficient, good hardness, easy coloration, and excellent light transmission; it also allows for thinner lens profiles, provides UV protection, and is well-suited for full‑rim eyeglasses. The refractive index of glass lenses typically ranges from 1.7 to 1.89. (1) Optical glass boasts high transmittance, reaching up to 92%. If one or more layers of magnesium fluoride anti‑reflection coatings are applied to the lens surface, the transmittance can be increased to as much as 99%.

Does the quality of heat dissipation affect the performance of high-power COB lenses?

To mitigate the impact of high temperatures on lighting fixtures, designers typically employ both natural (passive) and artificial (active) cooling systems. Passive cooling relies on heat‑dissipating components that do not require energy‑consuming electrical devices such as heat pumps, blowers, or fans. In LED luminaires, the most common passive cooling element is the heat sink. Typically, a heat sink consists of numerous metal fins that efficiently conduct away the heat generated by the LED light source and the power‑supply module. Because heat sinks themselves consume no energy, they represent the most energy‑efficient cooling solution. However, as LED light sources continue to increase in power, the required heat‑dissipation area grows ever larger, necessitating the design of more complex fin geometries…

Six Tips for Choosing an Outdoor LED Display

Today, outdoor LED displays dominate the advertising industry. Depending on the specific requirements of each project—such as pixel pitch, resolution, budget, content playback, display lifespan, and whether maintenance is front‑ or rear‑access—different trade‑offs must be made. Of course, you also need to consider external factors like the load‑bearing capacity of the installation site, ambient light levels, viewing distance and angle, local weather conditions, rain protection, ventilation and heat dissipation, and more. So how should you go about procuring an LED display? Here are a few recommendations from the editors at Strong Color: 1. The nature of the displayed content. Long…
